Filia Ul Copt and Valgarv... are they meant for each other? Let's take a detailed look at the evidence from the show, and the opinions of the fans.

    background

ValgarvFilia's pathos for Valgarv began one faithful day, when he stormed in and bitterly stated how the Golden Dragons (Filia's race) commited mass genocide on the Ancient Dragons (Valgarv's race). Filia did not believe his story when she first heard it, but eventually she does find out that the horrid deed actually was commited.

Soon, Filia started to develop a sensation of sympathy for dear Valgarv. That is why she felt so unsure of herself when she needed to combine her powers with the others to take part in Valgarv's destruction -- an event that pulled at her heart-strings and filled her with sorrow.

Eons seemed to pass.... until, one day, a string of pure-snow feathers fell from the sky... and thus came the rebirth of Valgarv, in the amiable form of a tiny dragon. Filia then took custody of Valgarv, and raised him like any loving mother would.

    possibility of love

...sorry, Filia/Valgarv fans... but this couple just does not work out. The explanation will be quite brief and simple:

Filia & ValgarvValgarv is Filia's adopted son! Filia does show great emotion and love for Valgarv... but you see, it is a "motherly love," not a "boyfriend-girlfriend" kind of love. I must say, it would be rather awkward for a mother to marry her own son, wouldn't it?

Oh, and there's one more reason why they don't make a good couple -- although, it may sound a little bit warped. Have you noticed that all traditional Slayers couples follow the rule of "opposites attract?" (i.e. - Lina/Gourry, Amelia/Zelgadis...) Well, Filia and Valgarv are too... how should I say this -- they're just too PERFECT for each other. It sounds stupid, I know; but it seems that they were entirely meant for each other, which is why they shouldn't be together. Do you get it, what I'm saying? o.O No? Oh, well.
